Otters at Rietvlei



I noticed some movement on the waters edge near the new hide - South lake.
It turned out to be a family of otters

Otter, Mongoose activity at Rietvlei 18-05-2009

We saw footprints and inlays of Otters and Water Mongoose near the South-lake hide.
This poor fellow (Otter photograph below) was killed on the freeway. This happens from time to time.

It rained 30mm so far in the last 24 hours.

The Otters have been seen swimming in the North Vlei.

As usual the Hartlaub‘s Gulls were following them all the time
