22 January 2009 (Rietvlei – North lake and nature garden)
Birds in the North Lake near the Slipway:
- A Crested Grebe with a month old chick.
- About 2000 Avocets
We had 1 mm rain last night and this afternoon the birds were feeding like crazy, among them were:
- About 1000 Little Swift
- Black Saw-wing Swallows
- White-throated Swallows
This is the first time I have seen a grebe chick in the North Lake and I have never seen so many Avocets here or anywhere else.
- Black-headed Heron in the Nature garden
